MotoGP – Baz suffers catastrophic tyre failure during testing in Sepang

Loris Baz suffered a huge 290km/h crash at Sepnag during Day 2 of testing at Sepang.

The Frenchman was full stick down the circuit’s main straight when his rear tyre of his Ducati let go, and the session was reflagged for more than an hour while marshals cleared up the debris.

The cause of the crash is still unclear but Michelin has withdrawn its entire soft specification tyre allocation as a precaution.

The accident happened just 40-minutes into the day’s test, with Pramac’s Danilo Petrucci fastest and Casey Stoner in tenth place for Ducati after his first run alongside MotoGP race riders since retiring at the end of 2012. Baz walked away with heavy bruising.
