Lincolnshire’s Guy Martin has been ruled out of the 2015 Ulster Grand Prix, as the injuries he sustained in a crash during yesterday’s opening superbike race are more serious than first thought.
Kirmington-based Martin high sided at Irelands as he was leading the Dundrod 150 Superbike race, but his injuries were initially judged to be non-serious by the trackside medical team.
However, after undergoing at CT scan at Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital the Tyco BMW rider was discovered to have broken his sternum and several vertebra and ribs.
Martin will undergo surgery later today to stabilise his fractured back.
