MotoGP – Aspar team loses main sponsor

Last night the Aspar team was rocked by news that main sponsor Drive M7 is axing its financial support for the team.

The move comes as a body blow for the Aspar team as boss Jorge Martinez had only secured another two seasons worth of sponsorship from the energy drink company at the first Sepang test at the beginning of February.

With MotoGP starting tomorrow at Qatar it’s clear Martinez will have to move quickly to plug the €3 million shortfall.

At this stage it’s still unclear whether the withdrawal of Drive M7 also relates to the new SIC KTM Moto3 team from Malaysia, which runs KTM factory riders Zulfahmi Khairuddin and Jakub Kornfeil.
