Kawasaki Racing has announced a new sponsorship deal with Monster Energy which will see the company’s eye-catching green logo plastered on the side of its ZX-10Rs in world super bikes this season.
The American energy drinks brand is building on its already significant presence in motorcycle racing, which includes backing the Factory Yamaha MotoGP team and the Tech 3 Yamaha team, as well as personal deals with riders such as former world champion Valentino Rossi and Britain’s own Cal Crutchlow.
The team’s new livery will be officially unveiled on February 5, with Monster’s ‘Claw’ logo set to appear on the test bikes when pre-season testing resumes next week.
The move will bring an end to Kawasaki newboy Jonny Rea’s long-standing personal deal with Red Bull, meaning his distinctive red and blue helmet is likely to be replaced with a green and black colour scheme for the 201 campaign.
Monster Energy manager Tommy Hayden said: “To race and to win is not only what Monster Energy stands for, it’s what we expect. As has already been well established, KRT is a world championship-proven entity and with riders Tom Sykes and team newcomer Jonathan Rea, we’re confident great things are ahead for both Monster and Kawasaki in 2015 and well into the future.”
