Britain’s Scott Redding got his first taste of a Factory prototype yesterday at the start of testing in Valencia.
MotoGP’s youngest race winner put the Marc VDS RC213V through its paces, still on a high after finishing the season as the top open class Honda rider the day before on his Gresini RCV1000R.
Redding finished the first day of testing 15th out of 27 riders with a lap time of 1m 32.998s, slightly down on his best race time on the RCV1000R.
As well as the new bike, it was also Redding’s first experience of working with new crew chief Chris Pike, who has parted company with Jonathan Rea to join the Marc VDS squad.
Scott said: “The Factory bike is completely different to the open class bike, so it took a fair bit of getting used to. I took my time and got to know the bike, building up my lap times and slowly getting quicker. We’ve made some good progress and should kick on even more over the next couple of days.”
