Ever wondered why Ducati test rider and MotoGP wildcard racer Michele Pirro wears a distinctive blue and white Polizia paintjob on his helmet? The answer it seems is that because as well as being a top-level bike racer he’s also a police officer. And he’s not the only one; compatriot Danilo Petrucci is officially also a police officer. Both men are members of the Fiamme Oro, Italy’s police sports division. Petrucci often wears a lid with the name and blue and white colours of his nation’s state police while Petrucci’s helmet incorporates the Fiamme Oro logo and the Italian flag. If only every two-wheeled cop was as cool as these two. ‘You call that a wheelie Sir? Now watch Sir, this is a wheelie’.
